JACQUI KING – ARTIST – TEACHER
JACQUELINE KING
Jacqui King is a teacher, writer and artist and comes from Jersey in the Channel Islands. She moved to the west country in 1984. She teaches art in primary schools. Jackie produces work in a variety of media, stone, pastels and bronze. She has been very influenced by the Cape Dorset sculptors who so successfully capture the inner spirit of animals and in particular polar bears with whom Jackie has a particular fascination.
Jacqui is a friend of the “Scott Polar Research Institute” (University of Cambridge), and this year 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the start of Scott’s Terra nova expedition, on which he and his companions achieved the South Pole.
“The Scott Polar Research Institute is renowned for the quality of its polar collections, research and teaching. Contributions made by the public play a vital role in ensuring that the Institute is able to preserve heritage collections and make them accessible for all to enjoy.” Scott Polar Research Institute.
